Pet Lovers Go The Extra Mile (Or 26) For PDSA

Twenty one animal-loving runners are taking part in the London Marathon this weekend to help raise vital funds for sick and injured pets throughout the UK. The participants, who range from marathon first-timers to seasoned runners, include PDSA staff members as well as supporters of the charity.

Among them is Jan McLoughlin, PDSA Director General, who is running her third consecutive marathon and hopes to take her personal fundraising total to an amazing £50,000 plus.

She said,  “Working for PDSA I see every day the vital work the charity does. If my marathon efforts can make a noticeable contribution to funding both this important ongoing work and building the three new hospitals that we desperately need, then the months of training and all the aches and pains will have been worth it.”

Another high profile runner is NHS nurse Harriet Smith from King’s Lynn, who recently overcame anorexia, and who is determined to help make a better life for pet, “Animals are a massive part of my life and I know what wonderful companionship they provide. PDSA’s vets and nurses do great working helping the pets of people in need,” she said.
